Govt Hikes Petrol by Rs6.39, Diesel by Rs7.83 Amid Rising Global Oil Prices

The government has raised petrol to Rs327.12 and high-speed diesel to Rs375.04 per litre, reflecting increased international crude oil costs due to renewed Persian Gulf hostilities. This marks a shift to daily pricing by OGRA, a decision that had previously led to a deferred strike by pump owners. The move aims to pass on the impact of fluctuating global prices, with petrol and diesel having seen significant peaks earlier this year. Such fuel price hikes typically contribute to domestic inflation, potentially influencing the USD/PKR exchange rate and making gold a more attractive inflation hedge for investors in Pakistan.
