The Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) has ordered the FBR to fix a critical flaw in its FASTER sales tax refund system, which incorrectly diverts legitimate export claims to manual processing. This issue, particularly affecting exporters sending samples, hinders timely refunds and poses a significant threat to the export sector. The FTO termed it a "systemic and hazardous loophole." Resolving this could support Pakistan's export earnings, potentially easing pressure on the PKR and indirectly influencing local gold prices.
