Gold Gains as Oil Slips, Easing Inflation Fears Ahead of Fed Meeting

Gold gained 1.3% to $4,103 an ounce, benefiting from a significant drop in oil prices. Brent crude slid 5.2% to $91.73 and US crude dropped 5.4% to $84.45, as a pause in Gulf fighting eased global inflation fears. This also led to a fall in 10-year Treasury yields and a broadly weaker US dollar ahead of the Federal Reserve's policy meeting this week. Lower oil prices and a softer dollar could potentially ease imported inflation pressures for Pakistan and influence local gold and currency rates.
