China's June Gold Imports via Hong Kong Up Year-on-Year; Central Bank Boosts Reserves

China's net gold imports via Hong Kong more than doubled year-on-year in June to 50.679 metric tons, despite a 5% dip from May. Concurrently, China's central bank reported its largest monthly gold reserve increase in over 2.5 years, reaching 75.44 million fine troy ounces. This robust physical demand from the world's top consumer, even as spot gold prices fell over 11% in June, suggests underlying market strength. Such sustained demand could support international gold prices, potentially influencing local gold rates in Pakistan.
