Pakistan adjusts fuel prices; petrol down Re1, HSD up Rs3.37 amidst global oil volatility

The government has revised fuel prices, lowering petrol by Re1 to Rs334.18 per litre, while high-speed diesel (HSD) increased by Rs3.37 to Rs386.83 per litre, effective July 28. These adjustments reflect the impact of renewed hostilities in the Persian Gulf on international oil markets, with the Petroleum Division now implementing daily price revisions. The government currently levies Rs110/litre in taxes on petrol and Rs96/litre on diesel. Persistent fuel price volatility and the new daily pricing mechanism could influence Pakistan's inflation outlook and economic stability, potentially impacting the USD/PKR exchange rate and, by extension, local gold and silver prices.
