SBP: Pakistan Rolls Over $6 Billion External Debt, FY27 Servicing Lower

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) announced that friendly countries have rolled over approximately $6 billion of external debt for FY27 in July 2026. This early arrangement reduces Pakistan's projected external debt servicing to $21.5 billion for FY27, down from $26.5 billion in FY26, with actual cash outflows expected to be around $7 billion. The SBP also reported a substantial decline in its forward liabilities from $5.8 billion to $900 million by June 2026, strengthening the country's reserve position. These developments, alongside improved sovereign credit outlook and lower bond yields, suggest enhanced financial stability. This positive news for Pakistan's external sector could support the Rupee, potentially easing pressure on imported gold prices in PKR terms.
