Pakistan’s information technology and telecom exports remittances soared to a record USD 4.6 billion in fiscal year 2025-26, marking an annual growth of around 20.6 percent from USD 3.814 billion in the previous year. Despite this strong performance, the sector missed the ambitious USD 5 billion target set by the government. June 2026 exports alone reached USD 416 million, showing both month-on-month and year-on-year growth. While missing the ambitious target, this strong export performance could positively influence Pakistan's foreign exchange reserves and potentially support the PKR, which might indirectly affect gold prices in local currency.
