Total power generation declined to 13,413 GWh in June 2026, down from 13,744 GWh last year, with average costs rising to Rs8.9885 per kWh from Rs7.8698. LNG-based generation sharply dropped, and its cost surged 62%, while HSD and RFO generation costs reached Rs57 and Rs52 per kWh respectively. CPPA-G has requested a Rs1.20 per kWh fuel cost adjustment for June. This significant rise in energy costs and potential further FCA could fuel inflation in Pakistan, potentially weakening the PKR against the USD and supporting local gold prices.
