FPCCI Objects to July Fuel Charge Hike, Cites Flawed Cost Recovery

The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) has strongly objected to the proposed positive adjustment in fuel charges for July 2026. It argues that costs from the Incremental Consumption Package (ICP) should not be passed to all consumers, and questions unusually low reference power purchase prices and inefficient RLNG dispatch. FPCCI also highlighted issues with K-3 nuclear plant availability and called for a semi-annual tariff review. This ongoing debate over electricity costs could contribute to inflationary pressures, potentially influencing the SBP's monetary policy stance and indirectly affecting the PKR's stability.
