Govt Allows 200,000 Tonnes More Sugar Export, Defying IMF
The Pakistani government has greenlit the export of an additional 200,000 tonnes of sugar, making it the second export approval within three weeks. This decision comes despite warnings that previous exports pushed domestic sugar prices to Rs220 per kg and appears to disregard the International Monetary Fund's advice. Such moves could strain Pakistan's relationship with the IMF and exacerbate domestic inflation, potentially adding pressure on the PKR against the USD and influencing local gold prices.

پاکستانی حکومت نے مزید 2 لاکھ ٹن چینی کی برآمد کی منظوری دے دی ہے، جو تین ہفتوں کے اندر دوسرا ایسا فیصلہ ہے۔ یہ فیصلہ اس انتباہ کے باوجود آیا ہے کہ ماضی کی برآمدات نے مقامی چینی کی قیمتوں کو 220 روپے فی کلو تک پہنچا دیا تھا اور بظاہر یہ بین الاقوامی مالیاتی فنڈ (آئی ایم ایف) کے مشورے کو نظر انداز کرتا ہے۔ ایسے اقدامات پاکستان کے آئی ایم ایف کے ساتھ تعلقات کو کشیدہ کر سکتے ہیں اور مقامی مہنگائی کو بڑھا سکتے ہیں، جس سے ممکنہ طور پر امریکی ڈالر کے مقابلے میں روپے پر دباؤ بڑھے گا اور مقامی سونے کی قیمتوں پر اثر پڑے گا۔
