Pakistan is developing its first European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA)-approved Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility at Islamabad International Airport, alongside a new aircraft maintenance hangar and full-flight simulator centre. These projects, under the Ministry of Defence’s Aviation Sector Transformation Programme, aim to reduce reliance on overseas aviation services. This initiative is expected to save millions of dollars in foreign exchange by reducing the need to send aircraft abroad for maintenance and training. Improved foreign exchange reserves could provide some stability to the Pakistani Rupee, potentially influencing local gold prices.
