The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) held a meeting to assess the impact of the new EU-India Free Trade Agreement on Pakistan's exports and future trade prospects with the European Union, a key destination with over $12.6 billion in annual bilateral trade. FPCCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh emphasized timely policy reforms, improving ease of doing business, and preparing for GSP+ renewal to enhance industrial competitiveness. Experts highlighted the need to diversify exports beyond textiles and improve structural competitiveness through lower energy costs and better logistics. Sustained efforts to boost exports and improve the trade balance could provide support for the Pakistani Rupee, potentially influencing local gold prices.
