Impact on Gold Petrol, HSD Prices Rise in Pakistan, Fueling Inflation Concerns
The Ministry of Energy has raised ex-depot prices for petrol by Rs1.09 to Rs336.15 per litre and High-Speed Diesel (HSD) by Rs2.42 to Rs393.04 per litre, effective July 31. These adjustments follow OGRA recommendations, which factor in Singapore Platts trends and currency exchange movements. While levies remain unchanged, the hike in fuel costs is expected to contribute to domestic inflation. This development could put upward pressure on the USD/PKR exchange rate and potentially support local gold prices as a hedge against inflation.

وزارت توانائی نے 31 جولائی سے پیٹرول کی ایکس ڈپو قیمت میں 1.09 روپے کا اضافہ کرکے 336.15 روپے فی لیٹر اور ہائی سپیڈ ڈیزل (HSD) کی قیمت میں 2.42 روپے کا اضافہ کرکے 393.04 روپے فی لیٹر کر دیا ہے۔ یہ ایڈجسٹمنٹ اوگرا کی سفارشات کے بعد کی گئی ہے، جو سنگاپور پلاٹس کے رجحانات اور کرنسی کے تبادلے کی نقل و حرکت کو مدنظر رکھتی ہیں۔ اگرچہ لیویز میں کوئی تبدیلی نہیں ہوئی، لیکن ایندھن کی لاگت میں اس اضافے سے ملکی مہنگائی میں مزید اضافہ متوقع ہے۔ اس پیش رفت سے USD/PKR کی شرح تبادلہ پر دباؤ بڑھ سکتا ہے اور مہنگائی کے خلاف ہیج کے طور پر مقامی سونے کی قیمتوں کو سہارا مل سکتا ہے۔
