PDP Blames Bad Governance, Corruption for Pakistan's Rs80.5T Debt Crisis
PDP Chairman Altaf Shakoor stated that Pakistan's crisis stems from systemic corruption, mismanagement, and fiscal leakages, highlighting public debt surging to Rs80.5 trillion (70.7% of GDP) by June 2025. He noted rising debt-servicing costs consume federal revenues, with SOEs bleeding Rs830 billion annually and energy sector losses reaching Rs1.275 trillion in 2025. Shakoor emphasized that structural reforms and accountability are crucial, warning against new provinces as a mere expansion of bureaucracy. This deep-seated economic instability could further pressure the Pakistani Rupee, potentially increasing local demand for gold as a hedge against currency depreciation and inflation.

پی ڈی پی کے چیئرمین الطاف شکور نے کہا کہ پاکستان کا بحران منظم بدعنوانی، بدانتظامی اور مالیاتی لیکجز کی وجہ سے ہے، جس میں جون 2025 تک عوامی قرضہ 80.5 ٹریلین روپے (جی ڈی پی کا 70.7 فیصد) تک پہنچ چکا ہے۔ انہوں نے بتایا کہ بڑھتے ہوئے قرضوں کی ادائیگی وفاقی آمدنی کا بڑا حصہ کھا جاتی ہے، جبکہ سرکاری ادارے سالانہ 830 ارب روپے اور توانائی کا شعبہ 2025 میں 1.275 ٹریلین روپے کا نقصان کر رہا ہے۔ شکور نے زور دیا کہ گہرے ادارہ جاتی اصلاحات اور احتساب ضروری ہیں، نئے صوبے بنانے کو محض بیوروکریسی میں اضافہ قرار دیا۔ یہ گہری معاشی عدم استحکام پاکستانی روپے پر مزید دباؤ ڈال سکتا ہے، جس سے کرنسی کی قدر میں کمی اور مہنگائی کے خلاف مقامی طور پر سونے کی مانگ میں اضافہ ہو سکتا ہے۔
