Impact on Gold Yuan Steady as PBOC Caps Gains; Dollar Weakens to 1-1/2 Month Low
China's yuan remained largely stable against the US dollar on Tuesday, trading at 6.7570 per dollar, even as the People's Bank of China (PBOC) set its midpoint guidance at a one-week low of 6.7917. This stability was underpinned by the country's export strength, despite the PBOC's cautious stance against rapid yuan appreciation. Meanwhile, the dollar's six-currency index dipped to 99.99, nearing a 1-1/2 month low after recent yen-buying intervention. A sustained weaker dollar could support international gold prices and potentially ease pressure on the Pakistani Rupee.
