ECC Approves Rs27.62bn Sovereign Guarantees for M-12 Motorway
The ECC, chaired by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, sanctioned Rs27.62 billion in sovereign guarantees for the Sialkot (Sambrial) – Kharian Motorway (M-12) Project, operating on a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) basis. This approval also includes the roll-over of Rs6.944 billion in operational VGF, facilitating the concessionaire to achieve financial close. Additionally, the committee approved a quarterly release of Rs3.25 billion for Pakistan Television Corporation (PTVC) to cover operational expenses. While this reflects ongoing government fiscal commitments, it is unlikely to have an immediate, direct impact on gold or USD/PKR rates.

وزیر خزانہ محمد اورنگزیب کی زیر صدارت اقتصادی رابطہ کمیٹی (ای سی سی) نے سیالکوٹ (سمبڑیال) – کھاریاں موٹروے (M-12) منصوبے کی تعمیر کے لیے 27.62 ارب روپے کی حکومتی ضمانتوں کی منظوری دی ہے۔ یہ منصوبہ بلڈ-آپریٹ-ٹرانسفر (BOT) کی بنیاد پر ہے اور اس میں 6.944 ارب روپے کے پہلے سے جاری آپریشنل VGF کو رول اوور کرنا بھی شامل ہے۔ کمیٹی نے پاکستان ٹیلی ویژن کارپوریشن (پی ٹی وی سی) کے آپریشنل اخراجات کے لیے سہ ماہی بنیادوں پر 3.25 ارب روپے کی فنڈز کی منظوری بھی دی۔ اگرچہ یہ حکومتی مالیاتی وعدوں کی عکاسی کرتا ہے، لیکن اس کا سونے یا امریکی ڈالر/پاکستانی روپے کی شرح پر فوری، براہ راست اثر ہونے کا امکان نہیں ہے۔
