Jul Trade Deficit Widens 25.17% YoY to $3.94bn; Imports Surge 18%

Pakistan's trade deficit widened by 25.17 percent year-on-year to USD 3.94 billion in July 2026, compared to USD 3.15 billion in July 2025, as per the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS). Exports reached USD 2.939 billion (up 9.54% YoY), while imports surged to USD 6.887 billion (up 18% YoY). On a monthly basis, the deficit decreased by 15.22%. A persistent widening trade deficit can put pressure on the Pakistani Rupee, potentially influencing local gold prices and the USD/PKR exchange rate.
