Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Announce Strike After Talks Fail

The Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association (PPDA) confirmed its plan for a nationwide strike starting Saturday morning, following a five-hour meeting with the federal government that failed to resolve outstanding demands. Dealers are pressing for an increase of Rs1.34 per litre in margins and changes to the daily petroleum price revision mechanism. The government assured consideration of the margin increase, subject to cabinet approval, but did not agree to changes in the pricing mechanism. While this strike could disrupt supply chains and impact economic activity, its direct effect on gold or currency rates in Pakistan is expected to be limited.
