Asad Umar Slams Govt Economic Policies, Cites High Inflation & Low Growth

Former finance minister Asad Umar has strongly condemned the government's economic policies, stating the last four years were among the worst for Pakistan's economy. He pointed to record-high inflation, extremely low economic growth, and a significant increase in poverty, asserting that government figures reveal economic destruction. Umar also criticized the high petroleum levy and tax disparity, where the salaried class paid over Rs600 billion in taxes while landlords paid less than Rs10 billion. Such strong critiques of economic mismanagement and inflation could fuel market uncertainty, potentially weakening the PKR and increasing demand for gold as a hedge.
