Iran Rial Plunges Amid US "Economic Warfare" Threats
The Iranian Rial has lost 10% of its value in two weeks, trading at over 2 million per US dollar on the black market, as the US plans "the largest coordinated economic isolation campaign in world history" against Tehran. Central Bank Governor Abdolnaser Hemmati attributed the depreciation to "American political propaganda," asserting the situation would improve despite US threats to increase sanctions and blockade Iranian ports. This escalation of economic pressure and geopolitical tension, particularly concerning the Strait of Hormuz, could boost safe-haven demand for gold and potentially increase crude oil prices, impacting Pakistan's import costs and the PKR.
