Impact on Gold Rupee Gains Marginally Against Dollar; Fed Hike Bets & Oil Prices Rise
The Pakistani rupee registered a marginal gain of Re0.03 against the US dollar on Monday, closing at 277.47, extending its appreciation from Friday's 277.50 close. Globally, the dollar held steady near a two-week high as markets increased bets on a rate hike following hawkish remarks by Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh. Concurrently, crude oil prices surged over 2%, with Brent crude futures climbing to $90.31 a barrel. This combination of a stronger dollar, hawkish Fed outlook, and rising oil prices could exert upward pressure on international gold prices while potentially limiting further PKR gains, impacting local gold and currency markets.
