SMEDA, SBP Boost SME Lending for Pakistan's Economic Growth
The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) and State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) held a seminar to explore cluster-based lending, aiming to expand financing for Pakistan's SMEs. This initiative seeks to improve SME access to formal finance, which has seen a 30.5% year-on-year increase to Rs901.6 billion, with SMEs contributing 40% to GDP and 30% to exports. A better-financed SME sector could indirectly support the Pakistani Rupee by strengthening the broader economy, though immediate impacts on gold or currency rates are unlikely.

سمال اینڈ میڈیم انٹرپرائزز ڈویلپمنٹ اتھارٹی (سمیڈا) اور اسٹیٹ بینک آف پاکستان (ایس بی پی) نے ایس ایم ایز کے لیے مالیاتی مواقع بڑھانے پر ایک سیمینار منعقد کیا۔ اس اقدام کا مقصد ایس ایم ایز کی رسمی مالیات تک رسائی کو بہتر بنانا ہے، جس میں 30.5 فیصد سالانہ اضافہ ہو کر 901.6 ارب روپے ہو چکا ہے، جبکہ ایس ایم ایز جی ڈی پی میں 40 فیصد اور برآمدات میں 30 فیصد حصہ ڈالتے ہیں۔ مضبوط ایس ایم ای سیکٹر پاکستانی روپے کو بالواسطہ مدد دے سکتا ہے، تاہم سونے یا کرنسی کی شرح پر فوری اثرات کا امکان نہیں۔
