Pakistan's Weekly Inflation Jumps 8.35% YoY Amid Soaring Food Prices
Pakistan's weekly inflation, measured by the Sensitive Price Index (SPI), surged 8.35% year-on-year for the week ending September 3, with a 0.65% week-on-week increase. Major price hikes were observed in onions (162.75% YoY), LPG (53.61% YoY), diesel (37.70% YoY), and petrol (31.01% YoY). Consumers faced higher costs for essential commodities like onions, tomatoes, potatoes, wheat flour, and chicken. This persistent inflationary pressure could influence SBP's monetary policy decisions and potentially impact the USD/PKR exchange rate, making gold a continued hedge.

پاکستان میں ہفتہ وار مہنگائی، جو حساس قیمت اشاریہ (SPI) سے ماپی جاتی ہے، 3 ستمبر کو ختم ہونے والے ہفتے میں سال بہ سال 8.35 فیصد بڑھ گئی، جبکہ ہفتہ وار اضافہ 0.65 فیصد رہا۔ پیاز (سال بہ سال 162.75 فیصد)، ایل پی جی (53.61 فیصد)، ڈیزل (37.70 فیصد) اور پیٹرول (31.01 فیصد) کی قیمتوں میں نمایاں اضافہ دیکھا گیا۔ صارفین کو پیاز، ٹماٹر، آلو، گندم کا آٹا اور چکن جیسی ضروری اشیاء کی بلند قیمتوں کا سامنا ہے۔ یہ مسلسل افراط زر اسٹیٹ بینک کی مانیٹری پالیسی کے فیصلوں کو متاثر کر سکتا ہے اور ممکنہ طور پر USD/PKR کی شرح تبادلہ پر اثر انداز ہو سکتا ہے، جس سے سونا ایک مسلسل ہیج بنا رہے گا۔
