Sinopec: China Oil Demand to Drop 8.9% by 2026 Amid EV Adoption
China's Sinopec, the world's largest refiner, projects a significant 8.9% drop in the country's oil demand by 2026 from 2025 levels. This decline is attributed to demand destruction from elevated oil prices and the accelerating shift towards electric vehicles. For the current year, China's oil demand is estimated to fall by an average of 600,000 barrels per day. A sustained reduction in demand from the world's biggest crude importer could put downward pressure on international oil prices, potentially easing global inflation concerns and offering some stability to the PKR against the USD.
