Pakistan Cuts Smartphone Import Duties by Up to 20% for FY26-27

The government has cut regulatory duty on premium smartphones above $500 from Rs22,000 to Rs17,600, a 20% reduction, alongside lowering Additional Customs Duty from 6% to 4% across all categories. Regulatory duties for CBU smartphones now range from Rs240 to Rs17,600, down from previous slabs. These tariff changes, part of the FY2026-27 Budget and National Tariff Policy, follow a sharp increase in mobile phone imports in FY2025-26. While intended to reduce handset costs, increased import volumes due to lower duties could potentially impact the USD/PKR exchange rate.
