Heightened shipping risks from Ukrainian attacks and a tanker shortage have pushed freight costs for Russia's Black Sea crude exports to unprecedented levels. In the week to September 6, Aframax tanker rates from Novorossiysk to West India and North China rose for the seventh consecutive week, increasing by 2.7% and 3.1% respectively. The cost to ship crude to India now stands at $23.20 per barrel. These elevated transport costs could contribute to higher global oil prices, potentially impacting Pakistan's import bill and influencing USD/PKR and local gold rates.
