Impact on Gold Rupee Gains Marginally Against Dollar; Global Dollar Strong Ahead of Fed
The Pakistani rupee extended marginal gains, appreciating 0.01% to close at 277.27 against the US dollar in the interbank market on Wednesday, a gain of Re0.03. Internationally, the US dollar maintained recent strength near multi-week highs ahead of an anticipated Federal Reserve decision on interest rates. Oil prices also fell, retreating after a two-day rally due to a large build in US crude inventories. A stronger dollar typically pressures international gold prices, while a stable or appreciating rupee could temper local gold price increases.
