This has driven Asian spot LNG prices towards $30 per million BTUs, causing blackouts and factory shutdowns in Bangladesh and significant fuel price hikes in Pakistan. Pakistan has introduced a fuel subsidy scheme, but it faces implementation challenges amid rising petrol and diesel costs. Continued energy instability could further pressure the Pakistani Rupee and increase local demand for gold as a hedge against inflation.
