PM Shehbaz Meets IMF Chief, Reaffirms Iran-US Mediation at UNGA
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva at the UN General Assembly, where discussions focused on Pakistan's ongoing reforms, stability, and market access. Georgieva praised strong implementation and urged continued reforms for growth. Separately, PM Shehbaz reiterated Pakistan's dedication to mediating between Iran and the United States, referencing the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding and expressing hope for de-escalation. Positive IMF engagement could bolster the Rupee, while easing geopolitical tensions might reduce safe-haven demand for gold and crude oil prices.

وزیراعظم شہباز شریف نے اقوام متحدہ جنرل اسمبلی کے موقع پر آئی ایم ایف کی منیجنگ ڈائریکٹر کرسٹالینا جارجیوا سے ملاقات کی، جس میں پاکستان کی جاری اصلاحات، استحکام اور مارکیٹ تک رسائی پر بات چیت ہوئی۔ جارجیوا نے مضبوط عمل درآمد کی تعریف کی اور ترقی کے لیے مسلسل اصلاحات پر زور دیا۔ علیحدہ سے، وزیراعظم شہباز نے ایران اور امریکہ کے درمیان ثالثی کے لیے پاکستان کے عزم کا اعادہ کیا، اسلام آباد مفاہمت کی یادداشت کا حوالہ دیتے ہوئے کشیدگی کم کرنے کی امید ظاہر کی۔ آئی ایم ایف کے ساتھ مثبت روابط روپے کو سہارا دے سکتے ہیں، جبکہ جغرافیائی سیاسی کشیدگی میں کمی سونے کی محفوظ پناہ گاہ کی طلب اور خام تیل کی قیمتوں کو کم کر سکتی ہے۔
