JI Vows Continued Protests Until Petroleum Levy Abolished Amid Inflation Crisis
Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman reiterated the party's resolve to continue protests until the Petroleum Levy (PL) is abolished, warning of an expanded campaign if the government fails to provide relief to inflation-hit masses. He highlighted the burden of taxes on petrol and urged the government to control FBR corruption and reduce interest rates to 8% to curb inflation. The party also rejected the IMF's specific requirement for PL revenue. This ongoing political pressure on economic policy could introduce volatility in the Pakistani Rupee and influence local gold demand as an inflation hedge.

جماعت اسلامی (جے آئی) کے امیر حافظ نعیم الرحمان نے پیٹرولیم لیوی (پی ایل) کے خاتمے تک احتجاج جاری رکھنے کا عزم دہرایا، خبردار کیا کہ اگر حکومت مہنگائی سے متاثرہ عوام کو ریلیف فراہم کرنے میں ناکام رہی تو احتجاجی مہم کو وسعت دی جائے گی۔ انہوں نے پٹرول پر ٹیکسوں کے بوجھ کو اجاگر کیا اور حکومت پر زور دیا کہ وہ ایف بی آر میں بدعنوانی پر قابو پائے اور مہنگائی پر قابو پانے کے لیے شرح سود کو 8 فیصد تک کم کرے۔ پارٹی نے پی ایل ریونیو کے لیے آئی ایم ایف کی مخصوص ضرورت کو بھی مسترد کر دیا۔ اقتصادی پالیسی پر یہ جاری سیاسی دباؤ پاکستانی روپے میں اتار چڑھاؤ کا باعث بن سکتا ہے اور مہنگائی کے خلاف ہیج کے طور پر سونے کی مقامی مانگ کو متاثر کر سکتا ہے۔
