OICCI Urges IMF for Investor Protection, Tax Broadening to Boost Pakistan's Economy
The Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OICCI) met an IMF delegation, advocating for critical reforms including broadening the tax base to under-taxed segments and reducing regulatory hurdles. OICCI highlighted a 32% decline in net Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) to $1.7 billion in FY26, calling for stronger investor protection and clearer federal-provincal coordination. They also stressed the need for energy security, export expansion, and faster structural reforms to leverage macroeconomic stability gains. These discussions underscore ongoing pressures for reforms that could influence Pakistan's economic stability and the long-term outlook for the PKR.
