India's manufacturing PMI surged to a seven-month high of 55.1 in September, fueled by robust domestic and export demand across various sectors. New orders and output accelerated, leading to a resumption in hiring and increased business confidence. However, input costs rose, and inflation remains above the RBI's 4% target for the third consecutive month. The Reserve Bank of India is now expected to raise interest rates by 50 basis points this year to 5.75% to combat persistent inflation, which could add pressure on gold prices by strengthening the rupee and increasing the opportunity cost of holding bullion.
