FBR Implements Faceless Audits, Curbs Commissioners' Discretionary Powers

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has issued S.R.O. 1665(I)2026, ending direct interactions for audits and assessments under sections 177, 214C, and 111 of the Income Tax Ordinance 2001. A new National Faceless Center will now conduct all such proceedings, aiming to enhance transparency and reduce human intervention. This structural reform could improve tax collection efficiency and investor confidence, potentially offering long-term stability for the Pakistani Rupee.
