Pakistan's pharmaceutical exports plummeted 30% year-on-year to $319.01 million in FY26, marking a three-year low, according to the PPMA. This sharp decline is largely attributed to the closure of the Afghanistan border, previously accounting for 42% of drug exports, and increased transportation costs from the US-Iran conflict. Overall exports also dropped 6% to $30.13 billion in FY26. This significant export contraction could exert downward pressure on the Pakistani Rupee, potentially influencing local gold prices.
