Pakistan Shifts to Pro-Growth; IMF Conditions & Fiscal Reforms Critical
Prime Minister Sharif has called for a shift from stabilization to pro-growth policies, focusing on exports, productivity, and employment. Finance Minister Aurangzeb outlined six priorities for macroeconomic stability and private sector-led growth, despite the economy remaining fragile with a 11.5% policy rate and high input costs. The IMF highlights Pakistan's history of boom-bust cycles due to inconsistent policy implementation, stressing the need for significant fiscal reforms to reduce current expenditure. Consistent policy implementation is crucial for securing external financing and debt rollovers. This economic direction and the ongoing IMF program will heavily influence the Pakistani Rupee's stability and local gold price dynamics.
