Impact on Gold Govt Cuts Petrol by 12 Paisas, Diesel by 66 Paisas; RLNG Jumps 32%
The government announced minor reductions in petrol and high-speed diesel prices by 12 and 66 paisas per litre, respectively, effective August 1-3. Petrol will now retail at Rs336.03 and HSD at Rs392.38 per litre, with significant taxes still levied. Simultaneously, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority notified a record 32% increase in Regasified Liquefied Natural Gas (RLNG) prices for August, reaching $25.83 per mmBtu for SNGPL, a 148% jump since February. This substantial RLNG hike will significantly raise power generation costs and could fuel inflationary pressures despite the minor fuel price cuts. Investors should monitor the net impact on inflation, as persistent energy cost increases could support gold as an inflation hedge and add pressure on the PKR.

حکومت نے یکم سے 3 اگست تک پیٹرول کی قیمت میں 12 پیسے اور ہائی سپیڈ ڈیزل میں 66 پیسے فی لیٹر کمی کا اعلان کیا ہے۔ نئی قیمتوں کے مطابق پیٹرول 336.03 روپے اور ڈیزل 392.38 روپے فی لیٹر میں دستیاب ہوگا، تاہم ان پر بھاری ٹیکس برقرار ہیں۔ اس کے برعکس، آئل اینڈ گیس ریگولیٹری اتھارٹی (اوگرا) نے اگست کے لیے ری گیسیفائیڈ مائع قدرتی گیس (RLNG) کی قیمت میں ریکارڈ 32 فیصد اضافے کا نوٹیفکیشن جاری کیا ہے، جو SNGPL کے لیے 25.83 ڈالر فی mmBtu تک پہنچ گئی ہے، جو فروری سے 148 فیصد زیادہ ہے۔ RLNG کی قیمتوں میں یہ بڑا اضافہ بجلی کی پیداواری لاگت میں نمایاں اضافہ کرے گا اور پیٹرولیم مصنوعات کی معمولی کمی کے باوجود افراط زر کے دباؤ کو بڑھا سکتا ہے۔ سرمایہ کاروں کو افراط زر پر اس کے مجموعی اثرات پر نظر رکھنی چاہیے، کیونکہ توانائی کی لاگت میں مسلسل اضافہ سونے کو مہنگائی سے بچاؤ کے لیے پرکشش بنا سکتا ہے اور روپے پر دباؤ ڈال سکتا ہے۔
