JI Sit-Ins to Continue Until Demands Met: Hafiz Naeem
JI sit-ins in Lahore, Karachi, and Peshawar entered their second day, protesting high petroleum levy, electricity tariffs, and costly IPP agreements. Rehman criticized the government for passing economic failures to citizens and being "slaves to the IMF," demanding petrol prices drop to Rs225/litre. He highlighted that consumers pay an additional Rs130/litre in taxes and levies on petrol. Prolonged political instability and pressure on government revenue could weaken the Pakistani Rupee, potentially supporting local gold prices.
