Govt 'Bleeding' Rs5-6 Trillion Annually, Senate Panel Urges 18th Amendment Devolution

A Senate subcommittee reported the federal government is "hemorrhaging" Rs5-6 trillion annually by ignoring the 18th Amendment, retaining 25 ministries and functions constitutionally belonging to provinces. The panel warned that non-implementation leads to financial bleeding, noting that faithful devolution could reduce federal expenditure from Rs19 trillion to Rs13 trillion and eliminate the need for foreign loans. It called for the immediate shutdown or devolution of these entities and reconstitution of the CCI. Such significant fiscal reform, if enacted, could bolster the Pakistani Rupee against the US Dollar and potentially impact local gold prices.
