The government announced a significant hike in fuel prices, with petrol now retailing at Rs358.77 per litre and high-speed diesel (HSD) at Rs381.77 per litre from September 8, 2026. This adjustment includes Rs114/litre in taxes on petrol and Rs100/litre on diesel. The Petroleum Division noted that prices are now fixed daily due to renewed hostilities between Iran and the US, which previously led to peak prices of Rs458.41 for petrol and Rs520.35 for HSD on April 3. Such fuel price increases typically fuel inflationary pressures, potentially weakening the PKR against the USD and bolstering local gold demand as a hedge.

حکومت نے پیٹرول کی قیمت میں 12.90 روپے فی لیٹر اور ہائی سپیڈ ڈیزل (HSD) میں 3.72 روپے فی لیٹر کا اضافہ کر دیا ہے، جس کے بعد پیٹرول 358.77 روپے اور HSD 381.77 روپے فی لیٹر پر فروخت ہوگا۔ پیٹرول پر 114 روپے اور ڈیزل پر 100 روپے فی لیٹر ٹیکس برقرار ہے۔ وزارت پیٹرولیم کے مطابق، ایران اور امریکہ کے درمیان کشیدگی کے باعث بین الاقوامی مارکیٹ میں اتار چڑھاؤ کی وجہ سے اب یومیہ بنیادوں پر قیمتیں مقرر کی جا رہی ہیں۔ ایندھن کی قیمتوں میں یہ اضافہ مہنگائی کے دباؤ کو بڑھا سکتا ہے، جس سے پاکستانی روپے پر مزید دباؤ پڑ سکتا ہے اور مقامی سطح پر سونے کی طلب میں اضافہ ہو سکتا ہے۔
