Copper Nears Record High on Tight Supply, Softer Dollar Boosts Metals
Benchmark copper on the LME rose to $14,430 a metric ton, nearing its all-time peak, driven by supply shortages outside the U.S. and strong demand from China. Zinc also saw gains, reaching $3,976 a ton, while other base metals like aluminium and tin posted modest increases. A softer U.S. dollar made dollar-priced commodities more attractive, reinforcing positive sentiment across the metals complex. This broad-based strength in commodities, alongside a weaker dollar, could provide upward pressure on international gold prices and potentially influence the USD/PKR rate.
