PBF Urges PM to Cut Petroleum Levy by Rs60/Litre Amid Soaring Inflation
The Pakistan Business Forum (PBF) has urged Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to reduce the petroleum levy by Rs60 per litre, stating current prices are unaffordable and fuel inflation. Consumers currently pay Rs106.15 per litre in taxes on petrol, with the levy contributing significantly to this burden. PBF highlighted that diesel prices rose Rs135/litre and petrol Rs114/litre in the past eight months, urging a shift from a revenue-centric approach. A significant reduction in this levy could alleviate inflationary pressures and potentially strengthen the Pakistani Rupee, influencing local gold and silver rates.

پاکستان بزنس فورم (پی بی ایف) نے وزیر اعظم شہباز شریف سے پیٹرولیم لیوی میں 60 روپے فی لیٹر کمی کا مطالبہ کیا ہے، جس کی وجہ موجودہ قیمتوں کا ناقابل برداشت ہونا اور مہنگائی میں اضافہ ہے۔ صارفین اس وقت پیٹرول پر 106.15 روپے فی لیٹر ٹیکس ادا کر رہے ہیں، جس میں لیوی کا بڑا حصہ ہے۔ پی بی ایف نے بتایا کہ گزشتہ آٹھ ماہ میں ڈیزل کی قیمت میں 135 روپے اور پیٹرول میں 114 روپے فی لیٹر اضافہ ہوا ہے، اور محصولات پر مبنی نقطہ نظر سے ہٹنے پر زور دیا۔ اس لیوی میں نمایاں کمی سے مہنگائی کا دباؤ کم ہو سکتا ہے اور پاکستانی روپے کو ممکنہ طور پر مضبوطی مل سکتی ہے، جس سے مقامی سونے اور چاندی کی شرحیں متاثر ہوں گی۔
