Govt Shifts STZ Focus to Industrial & Tech Investment, Eyes Economic Boost
The STZA chairman informed an NA panel that the government is shifting the focus of Special Technology Zones (STZs) to industrial and technology production, moving away from residential development. This aims to turn STZs into hubs for investment, jobs, and economic activity, with IMF support for incentives until 2035, gradually shifting towards productive activities. The authority is pursuing projects combining residential and industrial facilities, with 20 zones operational and 39 in progress. This policy aims to strengthen Pakistan's capacity in advanced technology and boost overall investment, which could contribute to long-term economic stability and indirectly support the PKR.

ایس ٹی زیڈ اے کے چیئرمین نے قومی اسمبلی کی کمیٹی کو بتایا کہ حکومت خصوصی ٹیکنالوجی زونز (STZs) کی توجہ رہائشی ترقی سے ہٹا کر صنعتی اور ٹیکنالوجی کی پیداوار پر مرکوز کر رہی ہے۔ اس اقدام کا مقصد STZs کو سرمایہ کاری، روزگار اور معاشی سرگرمیوں کا مرکز بنانا ہے، جس کے لیے آئی ایم ایف نے 2035 تک مراعات جاری رکھنے کی اجازت دی ہے، تاہم ان کا رخ بتدریج پیداواری سرگرمیوں کی طرف موڑا جائے گا۔ اتھارٹی رہائشی اور صنعتی سہولیات کو یکجا کرنے والے منصوبوں پر عمل پیرا ہے، جس میں 20 زونز فعال اور 39 زیرِ تکمیل ہیں۔ یہ پالیسی پاکستان کی جدید ٹیکنالوجی کی صلاحیت کو مضبوط کرے گی اور مجموعی سرمایہ کاری کو فروغ دے گی، جو طویل مدتی معاشی استحکام اور بالواسطہ طور پر روپے کی قدر کو سہارا دے سکتی ہے۔
