Uganda's Gold Exports Surge 35% in July Amid Safe-Haven Demand
Uganda's export earnings increased by 10.2% year-on-year in July, reaching $1.40 billion, primarily boosted by commodities like gold. Gold shipments alone surged 35% to $788.45 million, reflecting both higher export volumes and an increase in international gold prices. The finance ministry attributed the rise in gold prices to increased safe-haven demand amidst heightened global geopolitical tensions. This sustained demand for gold could support international bullion prices, indirectly influencing local gold rates in Pakistan.
