Soaring Energy Prices Push Eurozone Inflation Fight to Mid-2027
Soaring oil and gas prices are expected to prolong elevated inflation in the eurozone, with the European Central Bank's chief economist, Philip Lane, stating that inflation will only approach the 2% target by mid-2027. This "second wave of energy price increases" is projected to lead to higher and more persistent inflation. Such persistent global inflationary pressures could support crude oil prices and potentially increase demand for gold as an inflation hedge, while also influencing the US dollar's strength against other major currencies, thereby impacting USD/PKR.
