Palm Oil Hits 5-Week Low Amid Rising Stocks; Crude Oil Falls on Iran News

Tuesday, 22 September 2026 · 04:22 PM PKT · PakGold News Desk · 👁 12

Malaysian palm oil futures fell to a more than five-week low of 4,810 ringgit ($1,180.66) per metric ton, pressured by rising stock expectations and subdued demand ahead of the US-China presidential meeting. Simultaneously, crude oil prices declined after Iran indicated it could reopen the Strait of Hormuz within seven days if the US eases military pressure. This development eases concerns over disruptions to a key global oil shipping route, making palm oil less attractive for biodiesel feedstock. Lower crude oil prices could offer some relief to Pakistan's import bill, potentially easing pressure on the PKR.
