Europe's Energy-Driven Inflation Jumps, ECB Faces Policy Dilemma
Europe faces another energy-driven inflation shock, with September data showing consumer prices accelerating across major euro area economies. Spain's harmonized inflation rate jumped to 5.0%, primarily driven by rising fuel and lubricant costs. This escalating inflation presents an increasingly uncomfortable policy dilemma for the European Central Bank. Persistent energy-driven inflation in Europe could strengthen the US Dollar (DXY) if the ECB is perceived to lag the Fed, potentially dampening international gold prices or putting pressure on the PKR.
