NA Body Seeks Rs5,000 Wheat Support Price for 2026-27 Rabi Season

The National Assembly Standing Committee on National Food Security and Research proposed a wheat support price of Rs5,000 per 40kg for the 2026-27 Rabi season and called for a uniform subsidy program for farmers nationwide. The committee also pressed for finalising a national wheat policy for 2026-30 before the sowing season, citing concerns over rising input costs. While these measures aim to bolster the agriculture sector and manage future food inflation, their long-term nature means no immediate impact on Pakistan's gold or currency markets.
