Standard Chartered: Hormuz Oil Flows Far From Normal Despite Export Rebound

Tuesday, 06 October 2026 · 05:03 AM PKT · PakGold News Desk · 👁 16

Standard Chartered estimates Gulf crude and condensate exports reached 16.5 million bpd in September, near pre-war volumes, even with bypass routes. However, only 60% of those barrels crossed the Strait of Hormuz, compared with 83% before the war, indicating persistent geopolitical risk. Continued abnormal flows through Hormuz could sustain crude oil price volatility, potentially supporting gold as a safe haven and adding inflationary pressure on the Pakistani Rupee.
