Pakistan's WPI Inflation Jumps 13.3% YoY; SPI Climbs 11.53%
Pakistan's National Price Monitoring Committee was informed that WPI-based inflation jumped 13.3% year-on-year, with weekly consumer-price inflation (SPI) rising 11.53% by October 1. Key drivers included annual increases in onions, LPG, electricity, diesel, petrol, and wheat flour. CPI inflation for September 2026 stood at 10.3% YoY. Sustained high inflation could prompt the SBP to consider further monetary tightening, potentially influencing PKR stability and local gold prices.

نیشنل پرائس مانیٹرنگ کمیٹی کو بتایا گیا کہ پاکستان میں WPI پر مبنی مہنگائی سالانہ 13.3 فیصد بڑھ گئی، جبکہ ہفتہ وار کنزیومر پرائس انڈیکس (SPI) یکم اکتوبر تک 11.53 فیصد چڑھ گیا۔ پیاز، ایل پی جی، بجلی، ڈیزل، پٹرول اور گندم کے آٹے کی قیمتوں میں نمایاں سالانہ اضافہ ہوا۔ ستمبر 2026 میں CPI مہنگائی 10.3 فیصد رہی۔ مسلسل بلند مہنگائی اسٹیٹ بینک کو مزید سخت مانیٹری پالیسی پر غور کرنے پر مجبور کر سکتی ہے، جس سے روپے کی قدر اور مقامی سونے کی قیمتیں متاثر ہو سکتی ہیں۔
