PM Shehbaz Orders Smart Scanners for Airports, Boosts Customs Against Smuggling

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directed the immediate import and installation of smart scanners at all international airports to facilitate travellers and replace manual baggage searches. During a meeting on customs enforcement, he stressed curbing revenue leakage and reiterated a zero-tolerance policy against tax evasion, commending FBR's new enforcement system and anti-smuggling operations. This initiative, by improving customs efficiency and reducing illicit trade, could indirectly support the Pakistani Rupee by curbing informal outflows and strengthening government revenues.
